Re-reading the indicator replaced the whole frame, dropdown included,
and opened the new dropdown again. Now that an import re-reads it every
five seconds, somebody watching saw the list go away and come back for
as long as they looked.

With the list open the new rows are fetched and put into the list that
is already there, and the button's label and icon are changed only where
they differ. The frame is still replaced when the list is shut, and when
there is nothing left to show.
